True Love is Written in the Stone submitted by Meginator on August 20, 2022, 5:21pm This three-disc collection spans Earth, Wind & Fire’s time in the spotlight (more specifically, the years 1972-1987) and it is essential listening for anyone who enjoys popular music from this era. The band expertly blends funk, R&B, disco, and pop into a sound that is all their own, rich with extended instrumentation and always revolving around a deep groove that makes movement irresistible. Sure, the sound is a little dated to modern ears, but its pure quality is timeless; it’s difficult, and maybe even impossible, to listen to this compilation while staying still, and honestly I don’t know why anyone would even want to try. This is complex, inventive, and enjoyable dance music by some of the best musicians to ever create it.
