Struggling with ADHD, loneliness, and connecting with his divorced father who would rather see him embrace sports instead of cooking, sixth-grader Elliott finds an unlikely friend in popular, perfect Maribel when the two are paired in a school-wide contest.

Super cute! submitted by ahlalejini on July 16, 2022, 9:16am Love the food project, tons of fun to read

Very relatable for anyone with ADHD submitted by Diananana on February 28, 2024, 2:35pm My tween friend who has ADHD found this book totally relatable. They didn't want it to end! In a brief correspondence with the author, she revealed that she, herself, has ADHD. She writes about what she knows. Elliott, the protagonist, learns that you can find true friends in unexpected places.

There is a recipe at the end of the book. I won't spoil the story by saying what it is. I'll just say 425 degrees is way too hot for the part that contains almond flour. Our first try ended up charred to a crisp. Try 350-375. Our second try was really good.
