A glittering celebration of queer families puts Pride gently in perspective--honoring those in the LBGTQ+ community who fought against injustice and inequality. Pride Day is a day that means "Together, we are strong!"

Great Idea, But It Doesn't Work submitted by Meginator on July 1, 2023, 5:18pm I love the idea of this book and the illustrations, but the text lacks the required easy rhythm of its obvious inspiration, “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas”, but the book is quite difficult to read; I struggled to read it silently to myself and the sections I tried aloud also lacked any sense of natural flow. The author does a great job of linking current Pride celebrations to the history of queer activism and resistance, bolstered by appropriately colorful illustrations that incorporate a wonderfully diverse cast in both the past and the present, and readers who can muddle their way through the subpar text can potentially get a lot out of the book. The idea of riffing on the classic Christmas poem in this way is a solid one, but the rhymes and rhythms herein are simply too distorted and contorted to work the way the author intended them to and I found this incredibly disappointing given its sky-high potential.
