Dynamic Orchestral Works submitted by Meginator on August 22, 2022, 9:46am This recording of compositions by Bartok captures the dynamic range of his music, with the orchestra fully willing to embrace its more energetic moments. The music has a distinctly modern feeling to it and incorporates some influences from European folk music while still mostly fulfilling the general expectations for large-scale orchestral music. The instrumentation is more robust than many orchestral works from this period and before, with a range of percussion instruments in the appropriately named “Music for Strings, Percussion and Celeste”. This is a good duet of compositions for anyone who is beginning to embrace orchestral music, with a clarity to the composition and an ability to grab and sustain interest without the listener needing to understand more deeply what is going on at the nuts-and-bolts level.
