"The Kaiju Preservation Society is John Scalzi's first standalone adventure since the conclusion of his New York Times bestselling Interdependency trilogy. When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls "an animal rights organization." Tom's team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, massive dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world. They're the universe's largest and most dangerous panda and they're in trouble. It's not just the Kaiju Preservation Society whose found their way to the alternate world. Others have, too. And their carelessness could cause millions back on our Earth to die"-- Provided by publisher.

Highly recommended submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on June 23, 2022, 11:16pm Light and fluffy, fast-paced and hilarious, engaging and completely engrossing. Scalzi (who is consistently an excellent writer) is excellent here again. KPS is great science fiction, taking the world as we know it, stretching it juuuuuust enough, and then playing with the result with a cast of really fun characters. Highly recommended.
Scalzi never disappoints submitted by Joe Smuda on June 28, 2022, 6:08pm Went in looking for fun & food for thought. I was not disappointed.
Lots of fun! submitted by crwilley on July 16, 2022, 11:35am Scalzi has described this as "more of a pop song than a symphony" and that's true - but it was a darned good pop song. Set in almost-but-not-quite the real world, it's a fun adventure, with a nice little dollop of schadenfreude in the mode of Leverage.
Fast, Enjoyable, and Satisfying submitted by sdunav on August 7, 2022, 6:50pm The bad guys in Scalzi's latest adventure/sf/thriller were caricatures but given some people in the news lately, perhaps they weren't totally unbelievable. It was just a lot of fun - a perfect "summer read" no matter what time of year you read it. :-)
fluffy but fun submitted by apknapp on August 14, 2022, 7:17pm Quick, enjoyable read, hilarious dialogue, fun characters.
