A Charming Tale submitted by Meginator on June 19, 2023, 11:43pm This is a wonderful picture book with a perfect pairing of text and illustrations, an engaging plot that riffs on some familiar tropes, and a gentle moral message that comes through naturally from the storytelling. The pictures make excellent use of shadow and light to create visual and emotional depth, always enhancing the story and providing much of its humor. Readers of all ages will appreciate the way that this book plays with traditional knights-versus-dragon stories; while its twists aren’t entirely unexpected, they are delivered with a ton of heart and conviction that make this a delightful and memorable addition to the bookshelf.
