COMMUNITY REVIEWS

The Hating Game submitted by yufamily on August 6, 2022, 9:05pm Lucy Hale is a versatile actor. This is a cute story w/o much substance.

Cute, But Built Around Some Problematic Ideas submitted by Meginator on August 22, 2022, 9:43am Content Note: The film includes and is even built around inappropriate flirtation and sexual harassment in an office/workplace context.

This romantic comedy is a classic case of the enemies-to-lovers and opposites attract tropes, with the primary twist being that its protagonists are coworkers at a hybrid publishing house. This does, unfortunately, lead to some moments of sexual harassment in the workplace; even if both of the main characters are attracted to either other, their banter and actions are inappropriate in this context and the fact that they occurred in this setting pulled me out of the story. The excellent chemistry between Lucy Hale and Austin Stowell rescues the film somewhat, although the plot does rely on some moments of manipulation that are slightly uncomfortable even if they are not outright problematic. Overall, while there are some good ideas here, I didn’t particularly enjoy this.

Not perfect but fun for what it is submitted by clk.9123 on August 22, 2022, 8:00pm Most romance and rom-coms have their issues, but sometimes you just need to watch something to take your mind off real life. I love Lucy Hale, and it was good enough to make me smile and pass some time that I needed a good distraction for. This is a great choice to curl up on the couch with a fluffy blanket and a beverage.
