This was fine submitted by russelan on June 13, 2022, 7:09pm I like Casey McQuiston's adult romances and I like YA, so I was excited to read this one. There is a whole cast of characters that were fun to get to know. The search for Shara allowed some high schoolers who wouldn't ordinarily be friends get to know and like each other, but I didn't love the search for Shara and the reveal of Shara's original reason for disappearing.

YA Sapphic rom-com set in the Bible Belt submitted by gpapp on July 26, 2022, 4:43pm Casey McQuiston's first YA romance novel does not disappoint! Is there anything she can't write? I love the way each of McQuiston's books takes on a new setting, and manages to inhabit them all fully, while respecting the nuance. After One Last Stop took on NYC, this moves all the way to a small, Southern Bible belt town. A queer "academic enemies to lovers" story with a runaway mystery, AND theater kids?! I might be dreaming.

Also, Jack Truman's self-evaluation from the burn pile broke and healed my heart all at once--there is no greater hero than a teacher who gives kids a safe space to figure out who they are.

Enjoyable read submitted by MHZ on June 21, 2023, 9:40am I liked this book - Casey is a great writer, very easy to read. I don’t usually read YA and am probably not the target demographic but it enjoyably helped pass the time while stuck on a travel delay :)
