For those who liked the classic British children's novel "The Borrowers," this will be a treat as well. The book focuses on a group of miniature people, much like the Borrowers who live parallel to the humans (who are, of course, oblivious to their existence). The book is heart-rending but also humerous and tackles important issues such as the needs of the community versus one's own desires.
I highly recommend this and all other Terry Pratchett novels.
