The Early Days of Covid submitted by Meginator on July 25, 2022, 10:25pm This album offers a snapshot of life during the covid-19 pandemic, riffing on everything from the unique (yet shared) isolation of lockdown and contemporary internet culture to the general state of national and global affairs. Many of the songs are laugh-out-loud hilarious, although the fact that they are funny is itself somewhat ironic given that much of the album’s humor comes from direct observation of the world as it currently is: a mess. Ultimately, Burnham encapsulates the strange liminal quality of the current moment and provides a moment to sit back and laugh at the absurdity of it all before inevitably remembering what it’s been like to actually be stuck inside for so long.
