Young Anthony Soprano is growing up in one of the most tumultuous eras in Newark's history, becoming a man just as rival gangsters begin to rise and challenge the all-powerful DiMeo crime family's hold over the increasingly race-torn city. Caught up in the changing times is the uncle he idolizes, Dickie Moltisanti, who struggles to manage both his professional and personal responsibilities, and whose influence over his nephew will help make the impressionable teenager into the all-powerful mob boss later known as Tony Soprano.

Watch the series again and skip this prequel submitted by sumsaylor on July 17, 2022, 12:59pm I love the Sopranos, so this movie provides the initial thrill of seeing the old crew in their younger days and provides some call-backs from the show. But as a movie on its own, it's a solid C-. Hollywood adds an extraneous story that takes up too much air in the room, for all the wrong reasons, and is much less compelling than, say, focusing more on Tony's dad or Uncle Junior. Kind of forgettable, which is not what I was hoping for.
