those who know submitted by tisaallen on June 16, 2022, 2:12am This book does a great job explaining how Dilla changed music as we know it, breaking down the mechanics of his production technique and putting his music in the broader context of great African American musical history. It even has beat diagrams plus it offers a thorough biography of his too short life.

Great for hip hop fans submitted by Q' on June 9, 2023, 12:22pm This is a must-read for hip hop fans. Charnas does a great job of weaving Dilla's life with the theory behind why Dilla was so influential to hip hop and music in general.
