At head of title: W.E.B. Griffin. Based on characters and series created by Griffin.
Sequel to: Hazardous duty / by W.E.B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth IV. New York : G.P. Putnam's Sons, 2013.
"The secretary of state has been kidnapped by Islamic extremists and his only hope for survival is a reconstituted Presidential Agent team in this revival of W. E. B. Griffin's New York Times bestselling series"-- Provided by publisher.
Secretary of State Frank Malone has been kidnapped from his Cairo hotel, his security detail wiped out. President Natalie Cohen needs to think outside the box, and that can only mean one thing: the revival of the Presidential Agent program. Charley Castillo comes out of retirement to direct a new Presidential Agent, one Captain P. K. Pick McCoy, USMC. Charley may be too old to kick down doors and take names, but Killer McCoy is just the man to get the job done. Together they will track the kidnapped secretary from Cairo to sub-Saharan Africa. The only problem is that one man can't hope to win against an army of terrorists. Good thing there are two of them. -- adapted from jacket

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

It's complicated submitted by GJBarnett2 on December 19, 2021, 12:33am The amazingly prolific W.E.B. Griffin, author of at least sixty novels in seven military/special ops/police series died in 2019 and his son, William E. Butterworth IV, credited as co-author of at least 20, has apparently decided to hand-off the Presidential Agent series to Brian Andrews and Jeffrey Wilson. It would be unfair to compare their work with Griffin's. After all, they are not him and his style, shared with his son and co-author, was unique. And while I much prefer Griffin's style, this work, viewed in its own light and not in Griffin's shadow, ain't half bad. I strongly suggest reading the Authors' Note at the beginning, before disappointment otherwise sets in. So I'll see where they go with the next one. Meanwhile, I have no idea what "Griffin Jr." intends for his late father's other series and whether he may delegate them, too, as is now current practice. See, e.g. the "current" works of Cussler, Clancy, Ludlum, Fleming, and others whose names were too lucrative to let die and so were perpetuated by ghost-writers (in every sense of the term) but I would be glad to see him take up the banner and continue at least one of these series in a style more like his father's.
