In 1655 sixteen-year-old Tania is the daughter of a retired musketeer, but she is afflicted with extreme vertigo and subject to frequent falls; when her father is murdered she finds that he has arranged for her to attend Madame de Treville's newly formed Académie des Mariées in Paris, which, it turns out, is less a school for would-be wives, than a fencing academy for girls--and so Tania begins her training to be a new kind of musketeer, and to get revenge for her father.

Found family at its finest submitted by rshah on June 30, 2023, 2:45am If you, like me, have never read or seen anything related to The Three Musketeers but you want to more about POTS and you like the idea of a band of women fighting to protect what they love, this book is for you. And if you have read anything or seen anything related to The Three Muskateers, this book is also for you.

At its core, One for All is about sisterhood, found family, and finally getting the support you need to live a full and vibrant life. At the age of 16, Tania—our brave, brilliant, and POTSie main character—finds herself training alongside a group of girls. Her mission? Help the Musketeers solve a mystery that could upend the French empire. Except, they must do so in secret.

One for All also really does give you a good idea of what it must be like to live with POTS. The descriptions were so clear. The ableism Tania faces is disheartening and angering. But, the sisterhood/found family story works so well because we also get to see what happens when her disability is seen as one part of her life rather than the thing that defines it AND when she is surrounded by people who love her just as is rather than wishing she was someone else.
