Not quite what I was expecting...
submitted by crwilley on July 17, 2023, 6:53pm
I was hoping for a little more in the way of "pattern-free sewing" - there's advice on how to get started with sewing, including how to use commercial patterns, and instructions for drafting a pattern for a circle skirt and creating a T-shirt pattern from an existing garment. But the advice was good and I appreciated some of the ideas for altering existing garments (including "how to add a pocket to that dress that doesn't have any"!).
For what it's worth, this is one of the most inclusive sewing books I've ever seen - there are tips for modifying garments to be work better for wheelchair users, and there's no assumption that any particular body shape goes with any particular gender.
