Anthony Bourdain, Ottavia Bourdain, David Chang.
Chef, writer, adventurer, provocateur: Anthony Bourdain lived his life unabashedly. This unflinching look at Bourdain reverberates with his presence, in his own voice and in the way he indelibly impacted the world around him.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Why did I borrow this piece of crap? It did not last more than 5 minutes. submitted by Tassos on February 20, 2022, 5:51pm I was never a fan of that narcissistic clown Burdain. Seeing just 5 minutes of this crappy bio, it confirmed my low opinion of this [redacted] loser, and put the DVD back in its jacket. [edited by AADL staff]

A Film Style That Fits Its Subject submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2022, 9:44pm This is a fast-paced documentary that blends Anthony Bourdain’s narration with interviews from his friends and artistic collaborators, with a lot of clever interplay between the interviews and archival footage of the man himself. The film doesn’t attempt to tell Bourdain’s entire life story, but instead focuses on the ways in which his celebrity status and fame affected his personality and his life. This approach makes a lot of sense and gives the film a strong emotional resonance that stems from the recollections of those who knew the man best rather than an imposed, romanticized narrative about him. The final moment is a fitting tribute (and possibly just as spontaneous as it seems), and an appropriate final note for a documentary that is better because the filmmakers truly understand their subject.
