Doesn't Offer Anything New submitted by Meginator on August 22, 2022, 10:06am This is one of those tribute albums that is close enough to the source material that the point isn’t quite clear. That said, the group does an excellent job of emulating the original Led Zeppelin, although they (predictably) can’t quite match the tension between the fierce, driving vocals and almost lackadaisical drumming that gives the band’s music much of its unique strained feeling. It was also a mistake to try to emulate John Bonham’s legendary solo on “Moby Dick”; at that point, it’s better to highlight your own talents than try to compete with one of the most impressive recordings ever made. The vocals, however, are surprisingly close to the originals and if you are a little distracted a lot of these tracks could be plausibly mistaken for them from a room over. However, that again raises the question: what is the point? This album offers a display of deep talent, but when the content is this close to something I already know and love, I’d rather hear something similar but new.
