I adore Sanderson’s writing, and could not have ever imagined that I would think one of his books was a waste of time, but here we are. I have no idea what happened when he wrote_Cytonic_, but it’s not remotely up to his others (and I’ve read all his other YA books, too, so this isn’t about that). The characters are flat and one-dimensional. The story’s mission sounds like what my son came up with when I made him write a book over the summer after 4th grade. Sanderson’s worldbuilding is typically beyond amazing, but this is a bad acid trip captured by text with autocorrect “helping.”

I liked the first two books in the Skyward series, but wish I had dropped this in the first 30 pages like I considered.
