Illuminating Facts submitted by Meginator on July 4, 2022, 9:05am This book has a stunning three-dimensional cover that perfectly illustrates the types of wonders that wait within. The text does an excellent job of balancing factual scientific information about bioluminescence and biofluorescence with accessible fun facts and cleverly ties these creatures’ glowing habits to things that readers also do, like signaling their friends or lighting their paths in the dark. The illustrations use color very effectively to produce the necessary glowing effect, and the book looks beyond North America to explore examples of these traits from around the world. Best suited for slightly older readers who will be better able to grasp the scientific concepts, this book is a wonderful and enchanting introduction to some extraordinary creatures and stunning biological phenomena that are far more common than we once thought.
