"Chief Inspector Armand Gamache is asked to provide security for a visiting Professor of Statistics at the nearby university. It sounds easy enough. That is until Gamache discovers an agenda so repulsive he begs the university to cancel the lecture. They refuse and accuse Gamache of censorship. Before long, Professor Abigail Robinson's views start seeping into conversation. Discussions become debates, debates become arguments, which turn into fights. As sides are declared, a madness takes hold. When a murder is committed it falls to Gamache and his team to investigate"-- Back cover.

Not her best book submitted by camelsamba on July 19, 2023, 8:35pm This is another one of Penny’s “issue” books - but she suppresses the details of the controversial issue (eugenics, especially with respect to Covid treatment) until deep into the story, and doesn’t really examine it deeply. On the one hand, it’s not necessarily an issue worthy of debate at this point in history - but it might have been worthwhile to dig deeper into how the “madness of crowds” develops.
