Renkl is such a talented writer. submitted by jhaberich on June 29, 2022, 1:02pm Gorgeous writing on timely topics. While I didn't love this as much as her Late Migrations - the best non-fiction I've read in the last year - it is certainly worth the read.
Kinda disappointing

I loved Late Migrations and I couldn't wait for this book to come out. This book was just not as compelling. Maybe because many of the chapters were from the NYTimes and I had read them already? Not sure. I am always excited when I see that Renkl has a piece in the Times. She is so spot on about life in the South. But this book just didn't move me. She has another book coming out in October and I will try again.
