Cello Covers submitted by Meginator on June 11, 2022, 11:47am This album is fairly hit-or-miss, with two strong original compositions that make the most out of the duo’s talents and covers of pop songs that sometimes tease out interesting nuances and sometimes feel like little more than a simple shifting of the main melodic lines onto a different instrument. Sometimes the arrangements don’t even feature the cello as much as other instruments, which takes away the unique element of these particular cover songs; perhaps unsurprisingly, the best and most memorable tracks are slower paced and more akin to orchestral music than rock-plus-cello. The album is worth listening to for the moments when everything comes together, but a few of its tracks are bland and skippable.
