Its's Far Out Rock and Roll, Man submitted by Meginator on August 22, 2022, 9:59am Psychedelic music and early hard rock don’t sound like natural bedfellows on paper, but this compilation shows how the developing genres influenced each other and, eventually, began to diverge into more distinct categories. With heavy distortion and unconventional song structures, these bands charted a new course for rock and roll driven by raw emotive power; both the music and the singers tend to growl. The style is surprisingly sparse at times, quite different than the genre’s many descendants, but its lasting influence is unmistakable.
