Atmosphere great, plot needs development submitted by mowjac on September 3, 2021, 1:01pm Airgood lives in the UP, the setting for the book, and compellingly invokes the presence of nature as a character; it’s what I love about her books. Here she writes about the struggle of rural white poverty with outsiders making her small town unaffordable for locals, as well as how our past mistakes can hamper our future. I liked Laurel and Skye, but there were points in the story I found Laurel too self absorbed. The plot resolves through some deus ex machina events, and we never see Laurel’s internal change that leads to the conclusion.

UP Charm...even better submitted by leah karr on August 19, 2022, 7:01pm I liked this second book from Ellen Airgood so very much! Did I want to befriend the main character? No. But I liked the book, and the description of life in the UP
