A New Fairy Tale submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2022, 6:37pm This charming modern fairy tale draws from familiar formulas but tells its own story about love, bravery, and (of course) magical adventures. Equal parts serious and silly, the book does an excellent job of paying off on small details, both in the story (where the resolution hinges on something that initially seems like a mere aside) and in the illustrations, which are rendered in rich saturated color and pay tribute to woodblock printing. I hope that Gauld returns to this world to provide more detail about some of the adventures that, alas, did not fit within this volume, but even if he does not this makes for a satisfying stand-alone that readers of all ages will love.
