"Mission from God" submitted by markwells on June 15, 2022, 7:28pm "We're on a mission from God". That is just one of many classic lines from a movie that became a classic in an instant.
There's a lot going on with many cameo appearances by famous actors and musicians. If you haven't seen it do so.

Iconic Style submitted by Meginator on July 25, 2022, 11:26am Hailing from SNL’s first golden era, this film is just silly enough to work, carried by the effortless comedic chemistry of Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi and the outstanding lineup of guest musicians. The plot does just enough to keep the momentum going, as Jake and Elwood get their old band back together and try to scrape together enough money to save the orphanage where they grew up; however, the real highlight is the musical numbers and the outrageous chase scenes that loosely tie the musical asides together. Each chase is more ridiculous than the next, deliberately over-the-top and featuring a whole new level of police incompetence that is funny less for its substance and more for the relentless pursuit of seemingly all of Chicago’s officers; these are still hilarious, and the low speeds and loose choreography make them stand apart from the tight, impossible-seeming chase scenes in most modern films. Featuring excellent performances from some of soul’s greatest-ever talents (and the Blues Brothers themselves aren’t entirely outclassed here, either; they know what they’re doing and the backing band is no joke), the film may not have a lot of substance but it stands the test of time as a tribute to soul and an example of the absurdist humor that characterized much of SNL’s early years.
