Largely dismissed by Soviet critics on its release because of its elusive narrative structure, Mirror has since taken its place as one of the director's most renowned and influential works, a stunning personal statement from an artist transmitting his innermost thoughts and feelings directly from psyche to screen.

Tarkowski is one of the greatest Directors of all time. Amazingly, even in Ann Arbor MI nobody reviewed this movie for 47 years! submitted by Tassos on April 9, 2022, 10:00am Tarkovski's films are far, far superior than the usual Hollywood Drivel "Junk Food" popular movies most of you see.

While his movies are works of art, they are not for everybody, obvious. Not for people who consider junk like Pizza, ice cream, cookies and Mcdonald's hamburgers and KFC as "food".

Anyone under a certain age who doesn’t “get” this film now should rewatch it after accumulating a couple decades worth of memory.
While I love all of Tartovsky’s work, Andrei Rublev would probably be my “desert island” choice.
