Everyone in our family loved this and it made us all cry submitted by smargot on July 23, 2023, 4:10pm An uncommonly good picturebook about the life of Nina Simone. The book is forthright about the racism that shaped her career and manages to capture the enduring power of her songs and commitment to the cause of freedom. None of us got through the page about the assassination of MLK Jr. and how Nina asked, "What will we do now that the King of love is dead?" with dry eyes, not any of the many times we read it together, and my kids kept asking for it at bedtime as long as we had it checked out. Gorgeous artwork, too.
