Garfield in His Comfort Zone submitted by Meginator on August 1, 2022, 3:39pm This volume of recent Garfield comics finds the characters sitting comfortably in their comfort zones, with appearances by most of the long-running strip’s prominent side characters. The strip’s visual representation of female characters such as Liz and Arlene remains somewhat offensive, or at the very least tiresome, and detracts from some of the characters’ funnier moments; Jon and, indeed, the other (male) animals have a much wider range of visual expression that helps the strip deliver some of its most effective humorous punches. Although this volume has few of the week-long thematic storylines that make the comic so effective at its best, a few setups do recur often, sometimes with surprising results. Garfield (the comic, not the character) may not have a lot of depth or even variation at this point, but something about the strip remains as charming as ever in its simplicity and its devotion to its world and the characters who inhabit it. It just...works, and sometimes running on autopilot is fine insofar as you get what you expect; that’s the case here, as ever with our favorite lasagna-guzzling feline.

Love It submitted by jgerman79 on August 18, 2022, 9:15pm Oh yes, Garfield still being Garfield. It's amazing Jim Davis can still keep things interesting so many years, decades, in! The technology has changed, but the spirit remains the same. And we love it :)
