Lolz submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 10:25am This picture book does double duty as a very silly story in its own right and as a gentle assist for readers who are nervous about starting a new school year. The story itself doesn’t offer many surprises, but the visual design is a pure delight, borrowing heavily from comics-style storytelling techniques and with bold colors and character design that sell the story. I love the way that Eliopoulos depicts laughs of all types and sizes and the ways that those embodied laughs interact with the characters to create a contagiously funny series of events. This book is fairly simple in both concept and execution, but it fires on all cylinders.
