COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Bittersweet submitted by cldaniels on June 9, 2023, 4:08pm A bittersweet story of a grieving white couple in the south ,the 2 recently freed black men they encounter, and the response of the bitter surrounding community after the Civil War.

Historical, long book but interesting submitted by JulieCraig on July 5, 2023, 3:17pm Interesting historical book about two former slaves trying to survive racism and finding some opportunities for them. One has emotional memories of his mother being sold to a different slave owner and misses her frequently. Interesting back stories and good story telling. Sometimes I felt the upset or feelings of disappointment but worth listening all the way to the end. Saw a few suggestions on line that it might make a good book club read. I agree but I think someone would need several weeks to read it in print. The voices in the Book on CD are interesting and emotional. Recommended reading.
