"The fatal poisoning of a Russian billionaire sends Gabriel Allon on a dangerous journey across Europe and into the orbit of a musical virtuoso who may hold the key to the truth about his friend's death. The plot Allon uncovers leads to secret channels of money and influence that go to the very heart of Western democracy and threaten the stability of the global order.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Should have stayed in his lane. submitted by GJBarnett2 on August 3, 2021, 9:44am This work of fiction divides neatly into two parts at almost precisely page 400. The first section is a typically highly entertaining, "up to par" Gabriel Allon story. And then the next 67 pages is a purely gratuitous extremely political coda entirely unrelated to the first section and which, in my opinion, simply ruins it. Unfortunately, like many other authors and entertainers, Silva clearly has come to believe that the audience for his talent would enjoy, or perhaps be educated or illuminated by, his personal political opinions. Frankly, I have read Silva's books for the quality of the fiction and nothing else. I really and I mean REALLY don't care about his political opinions, no matter how strongly and sincerely held and I resent his use of fiction to propogandize his personal political beliefs.
