i'm gonna be honest, this wasn't my favorite (out of the rick riordan present books.)
it personally felt kind of boring- granted, this is the first book in a series, so there's always room for more development. i do wanna know more about korean mythology/folklore, since it's super interesting!
but on characters, we don't really get to see much about them- riley's sister, hattie we see barely. she's gone for most of the book, (SPOILER)

but then again, she is in a coma. though we could've had memories through out with hattie and riley (from when they were younger) , building up their relationship. riley is the typical outsider mc, somewhat selfless and brave- 'powerless' but is actually powerful type.
the wordbuilding is ok, and i really would like to dive deeper into it, because it's so imagnative. sadly, we don't have much of details; and we don't see a bunch of connections from the modern world to the mythology world.
but honestly, i am just really nitpicky. so i would still definitely reccomend to read!
