A hat? What's that? submitted by FordAlpha on August 14, 2018, 10:22pm When the wind blows away a farmer's hat, he questions all the neighboring animals about its fate. Unfortunately, none of the animals saw a hat; each perceived the rather shapeless brown object as something else, depending on its perspective. The farmer finally finds the hat, but generously chooses to leave it to the bird who thinks it a handy prefabricated nest. The story has a simple charm, and the illustrations, similar in style and technique to those of the great Paul Galdone, are appealing. Alas, my own 4- and 6-year-old kids proclaimed it boring.
