"What happens when you mix 1 (accidental) murder with 2 thousand wedding guests, and then, toss in a possible curse on 3 generations of an immigrant Chinese-Indonesian family? You get 4 meddling Asian aunties coming to the rescue! When Meddelin Chan ends up accidentally killing her blind date, her meddlesome mother calls for her even more meddlesome aunties to help get rid of the body. Unfortunately, a dead body proves to be a lot more challenging to dispose of than one might anticipate-especially when it is accidentally shipped in a cake cooler to the over-the-top billionaire wedding that Meddy, her Ma, and her aunties are working, at an island resort on the California coastline. It is the biggest job yet for their family wedding business-"Don't leave your big day to chance, leave it to the Chans!"-and nothing, not even an unsavory corpse, will get in the way of her aunties' perfect buttercream-cake flowers. But things go from inconvenient to downright torturous when Meddy's great college love-and biggest heartbreak-makes a surprise appearance amid the wedding chaos. Is it possible to escape murder charges, charm her ex back into her life, and pull off a stunning wedding, all in one weekend?"-- Provided by publisher.

Not amazing literature, but kept me reading to the end submitted by robinpollak on June 11, 2022, 12:05pm I saw this book recommended on a list of easy and engaging summer reads, and I completely agree with that categorization. It's not the best writing ever, but also not egregiously bad in any way. In fact, the character development is decent enough that once I started to relate to the characters I stopped being distracted by the mediocre paragraph construction. I love that the author wrote this book as an homage to her own culture and upbringing. The family dynamics are hilarious and tangible. Even though the plot is totally ridiculous, I wanted to keep reading straight through to see how all the hijinks would turn out. I wouldn't recommend this for a book club (I don't think?) but I would recommend it for your beach tote, or for your kindle app to read in the grocery store checkout line.

a fun rom-com caper submitted by nemiller on June 19, 2022, 2:24pm Part rom-com, part caper, part wacky family hijinks. A fun ride from start to finish.

fun rise tho submitted by angie. on July 10, 2022, 6:33pm please no

Wacky submitted by pamhockey25 on August 7, 2022, 3:47pm This book feels like a movie as it moves from one unlikely scene to another. Don't get me wrong, it's lots of fun! So suspend disbelief and prepare for a fast-paced romp!

Silly but entertaining submitted by neit on August 27, 2022, 12:13pm The plot is over the top and the characters can be loveable as only a family can be. Humor and romance is included. Fast read. Entertaining---end up rooting for the heroine and her aunties!

Fun Summer Read submitted by khrobinson on August 27, 2022, 3:09pm This was a fun and quick read for summer. Quite outlandish at times, but never dull!

Too over-the-top for me submitted by camelsamba on June 29, 2023, 2:52pm I listened to this as an audiobook via MEL. Even though I suspended disbelief, there were too many times when I thought "that was just stupid" to recommend it. I like the aunties and their interactions and the insight into different cultures. Meddy clearly has room to grow as a person so could (possibly, with the right author at the helm) be worthwhile to follow. But the plot: while entertaining, it’s too over-the-too for my taste. The narrator is great though - I probably wouldn't have finished it if I'd been reading print.
