First published in French as Nous avons rendez-vous by Édítions du Seuil in 2018.
"Mama opened our bedroom door. 'Wake up, you two,' she whispered. 'Let's go, so we get there on time.' Excited, the sleepy family step outside into a beautiful summer night. The world is quiet and shadowy, filled with fresh smells and amazing sights. Is this what they miss when they're asleep? Together, they walk out of their sleeping village. What will they find in the dark landscape? This beautiful and evocative book movingly recalls family trips and the excitement of unknown adventure, while celebrating the awe-inspiring joy of the natural world."--Amazon.

Gorgeously Illustrated; Do Not Miss This One! submitted by Meginator on August 1, 2022, 3:56pm This beautiful picture book feels as peaceful as the late-night walk it shows, with a masterful use of light and shadow in a limited color palette. Some of the spreads are absolutely stunning, such as a view upward at a star-spangled sky, and the book encourages a slow, contemplative mood that makes it a great choice for a bedtime read-aloud. Readers who do not need to be lulled to sleep will appreciate this for its visual subtlety and its peaceful, soothing nature; I highly recommend this to all readers, even (and perhaps especially) those who haven’t looked at a picture book in years. This is stunning, gorgeous stuff.
