COMMUNITY REVIEWS

a solid outing for Zombie submitted by irenzero on July 22, 2021, 9:38am Rob Zombie returns with another blast of head banging industrial noise metal featuring funky pop hooks. This time around Zombie dives into more late 70s early 80s electro pop and some Nederbeat organ sounds avoiding an album filled with a solid wall of heavy Alt Groove Metal, like he was known for in the past.

What I liked:
I found myself nodding along with the beat and smiling at the knowingly silly and fun lyrics. Tracks like "18th Century Cannibals, Excitable Morlocks and a One-Way Ticket on the Ghost Train" finds Zombie channeling Stan Ridgway of Wall of Voodoo in his take on a Country & Western tune… while “The Much Talked of Metamorphosis" echoes but isn’t copying the Alice Cooper band forays into the Country & Western genre.

What I didn’t like:
As with most Zombie records it is a little long, and might have worked better as a series of EPs and some of the instro tracks don’t offer enough to warrant inclusion.

Suitably Creepy submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2021, 9:45am This album is exactly what you want from Rob Zombie: a hard-edged blend of alt-rock and metal with occasionally creepy lyrics that has tons of energy and keeps things interesting throughout. The songs have solid hooks and the album hangs together really well, and even though it doesn’t have the instantly memorable quality of Rob Zombie’s biggest hits it fits right in with his discography and shows that he isn’t going away or fading out any time soon.
