Should be "In Search Of An Editor." submitted by GJBarnett2 on May 20, 2021, 5:59pm Almost unreadable. Centering on Sir Francis Drake's piracy against Spain and circumnavigation of the Globe, Bergeen's background of the emergence of the Spanish Golden Age and Elizabethan England is Incredibly disorganized, jumping, apparently randomly, forward and background in time and subject with no visible "thread." At one moment, Elizabeth is Queen and later still a princess, then back and forth again. Incredibly, there is no mention of the conquest of Mexico, Cortez not even to be found in the Index, and barely more than a single page on Peru and Pizarro. I found myself repeatedly going back to see if I had missed something. Simply not worth the trouble. Read something else.
