"Bind your fate to mine" -- cover.
Every seven years there is a hunt offering mortal descendants of gods the opportunity to claim their divinity by killing any of nine immortals made mortal for one night. Lore Perseous has no desire to participate in the Agon, embittered because her family was killed by a rival who then ascended to godhood. When a childhood friend asks her to help, and a wounded god offers an alliance, Lore overlooks the steep cost of this decision in exchange for vengeance.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Doesn't Deserve the Hate! submitted by rishikabhutani on December 29, 2021, 6:59pm I was skeptical going into this book because I had seen so many people online say that it was bad. The entire time I was reading the book, I kept wondering what it was that made people dislike it so much. The plot was brilliant and kept me hooked until the end. The concept of the agon itself was a little difficult to grasp, but it started to make sense as I kept reading.
A lot of the negative reviews I read and watched for this book seemed to have missed some of the details needed to understand the characters and their motivations. I also saw that people considered the story, which was marketed as a cross between Greek Gods and The Hunger Games, as unoriginal. If you take a generation of readers who religiously read and idolized the Percy Jackson series, they make it so that no other author can write a Greek mythology-inspired novel because it will never compare. That's unfair to the authors of those books, because I never thought to compare Lore to Percy Jackson. They may be both inspired by the same stories, but Lore is not meant to be read with the same mindset as Percy Jackson.
Again, everyone is entitled to their own book opinions and these are mine. I just encourage everyone to keep an open mind and to decide for yourself whether or not a book is good.
