A Jazz Giant's Different Side submitted by Meginator on June 12, 2021, 9:37am After all of his innovative performances, it’s interesting to hear Dave Brubeck turn to familiar songs and, specifically, to style them as lullabies. Brubeck brings a jazz sensibility to these recordings, but the effect is subtle and the overall vibe is peaceful and quiet, just what you want from an album meant to be comforting and familiar. This album could put you to sleep with its peaceful renditions, as intended, but there’s a lot to find and to like if you stay awake all the way through.
