Not quite as enthralling as some of Jane Harper's other novels submitted by kkrasity on August 29, 2021, 2:17pm Jane Harper is excellent at creating a great sense of place in her novels, and this latest mystery set in cool, rainy Tasmania certainly achieves that. However, I found the mystery plot and some of the character development to be a little lackluster compared to her earlier novels like The Dry or The Lost Man. I'd only pick this one up if you're craving more after devouring Harper's other work.

Thoroughly enjoyed this NZ book by Jane Harper! submitted by janewal on October 25, 2021, 10:21pm After seeing The Dry in Michigan Theater, I stuck around and actually read the credits. Based on a book by Jane Harper and set in New Zealand, I hadn’t understand some of it, so decided to get the book to clarify what the movie left unclear. I found that her books were in the library and I’ve now read them all. The Survivors was hard to get into as I thought there was too much character background before getting around to the story. But the mystery soon took over. I loved the scenery - different in all 4 novels. I could actually see the beach, the town, the boats and the characters. Her books were all set in various outdoor locations in NZ which I hope to visit one day. Hoping she writes another one soon!
