good but freaky submitted by umich.reader on June 12, 2022, 4:23pm Good book. Has some freaky scenes though. Mommy issues.

Struggled to find something redeeming about this book submitted by clk.9123 on August 21, 2022, 2:54pm What???????
This was wild. I don’t know. Not my vibe. Someone mentioned how it was like WAP, but in a book form, and hard agree. Some of the scenes in this book are just NOT good at all, like purposely trying to be edgy and just failed completely or something. Stick with WAP ya’ll.

It started interesting. Reading about her ED and apparent self hatred was tough but it felt very real, however the other characters were clearly only there to serve the narrator because they had no depth. I hated being in her head for that because she felt like such a user and the way she described bodies that aren’t rail thin was not great. I read that this is meant to be a comedy and to make fun of “stereotypes of people” or whatever but I didn’t find it that funny. Struggled to find what’s funny in an ED, in self hatred, in LGBT relationships, in food addictions/bingeing/overeating, in religion or religious rejection, in conservative Judaism… just so many things. I was so confused and annoyed and sometimes even disgusted by this. Really bad.

Very quick read submitted by EJZ on August 7, 2023, 8:20am I'll be interested to hear what others think about this. I don't have a lot of the issues the narrator does so it's not something I personally identified with, but it didn't feel inauthentic at any time. The book was extremely horny, but I read that as a reflection of her addiction/ hunger issues more than anything else. Didn't really know what to make of the end - it was like something was building up to resolve and then just dropped.
