Hmmmmm submitted by jibkidder on June 28, 2022, 10:33pm I felt like the first two Miranda July films were so well aligned with their time of release. Her was one of the first movies I saw that captured certain qualities of life with the internet, and her second arrived just at a moment where we, as a culture, seemed to start feeling it had all gone wrong. After watching that in the theater when it came out I remember me and my girlfriend just stepping outside and crying. This one simply felt light to me and I never quite believed in the characters, which left me wondering whether her film-making had changed or I had. But I did find it interesting that A.S. Hamrah, film critic of both N+1 and the Baffler, loved it, championing its deft capturing of certain qualities of our gerontocracy.
