COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Good If You're Already Familiar with the Tour submitted by Meginator on July 22, 2021, 9:18pm This documentary uses a combination of contemporary and historical interviews and video footage to illuminate the story of Bob Dylan’s famous (and, from the sounds of it, pretty weird) 1975-1976 tour. The film lacks a narrative thread and instead knits its stories together from bits and pieces, which makes it difficult to follow for anyone not already familiar with the subject. The expository segments are frequently interrupted by footage of Dylan performing, and these bits alone are more than worth the price of admission; not only do they show what it might have been like to actually see the Revue in person, they also show an artist in his prime stretching his creative boundaries and reimagining some of his most famous songs. This is a must-watch for fans of Bob Dylan who are already broadly familiar with the Rolling Thunder Revue, but everyone else might benefit from a quick read-up before diving into this strange story.

Typical Dylan submitted by SaraP on July 28, 2022, 10:45am There are great performances here and some really interesting interviews, but don't be fooled... some of it is pure fiction w/ actors and made-up histories. If you realize they're pulling a fast one, it's also really funny. Don't expect. straight documentary... AT ALL!
