COMMUNITY REVIEWS
8-Bit Glory submitted by Meginator on July 8, 2021, 6:47pm This celebration of the Nintendo Entertainment System (and its Japanese counterpart, the Famicom) is a beautifully packaged piece of nostalgia for anyone who grew up playing 8-bit video games and a solid all-around introduction to some of the most influential developments in the history of video games. The bulk of the book consists of two-page spreads celebrating individual games, with remarks by developers, composers, or writers; these are supplemented with features on prominent developers and other historical notes. Some of the contributions assume a working knowledge of the game being discussed, and the reminiscences are rarely at all critical, but the book still offers a lot of information and encouragement for readers who are not as deeply acquainted with this era in gaming. Overall, this is a worthy tribute to a pivotal moment in gaming history that will make readers want to blow off those cartridges (or fire up an emulator) and revisit the NES era.
