"A Tom Doherty Associates book."
"The day Fatima forgot her name, Death paid a visit. From here on in she would be known as Sankofa--a name that meant nothing to anyone but her, the only tie to her family and her past. Her touch is death, and with a glance a town can fall. And she walks-alone, except for her fox companion-searching for the object that came from the sky and gave itself to her when the meteors fell and when she was yet unchanged; searching for answers. But is there a greater purpose for Sankofa, now that Death is her constant companion?"-- Provided by publisher.

Outstanding submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on June 18, 2021, 9:26pm Okorafor writes the most wonderful, intense, descriptive, and compelling stories. I mostly choose longer, deeper dives because I want to be immersed in a lengthy story, but with Okorafor’s skill, the shorter narratives doesn’t leave me wanting. I’ll read anything she writes, and haven’t yet been disappointed. _Remote Control_ scratches the itch yet again… creating a world that draws me in, introducing me to a character I want to know, and leaving me thinking about the story after I close the back cover. Outstanding.

Read all her work submitted by rachelmcglash on June 26, 2021, 7:34pm Okorafor is amazing. She develops characters so well. I can almost feel and smell the setting, even in so few pages.

Great Book submitted by SaraP on July 11, 2022, 8:44am I've read most of her books, and this one is definitely near the top. A fascinating premise w/ a strong central character. My one concern is that it lens into some rather familiar territory; like Binti, we have another young, female character who happens upon a mysterious object with strange powers. That's really where the similarities end though. This one is grounded on Earth though, without the space travel or introduction of extra-terrestrial species. A fun read with lots of nice commentary on contemporary society and the role of the non-CIS man in a patriarchy.
