Great book! submitted by Xris on June 12, 2023, 2:43pm Great book! Closeted Gay Catholic boy in the scouts for summer camp, worried about starting high school and bullies. Accurate boys' locker room/game scenes. Also depicts suicidal ideation. Hopeful ending message that's worth it in the end.

Bullying in Middle School submitted by sdunav on August 15, 2023, 12:36pm This is a dark but ultimately uplifting story about a Catholic middle school boy at Boy Scout summer camp becoming sexually aware, dealing with bullies and a difficult father, and despairing....but ultimately triumphing. There's a bit of magical realism in the end, but most of it seems very true to life for the period it is set in (mid 90's). I think it is an important story for older kids, gay or not.
