First published in Great Britain in 2019 by Frances Lincoln Children's books.
An adapatation of the Hans Christian Andersen tale in which a little fir tree realizes too late that it did not appreciate the grand moments of life, such as being a Christmas tree, while they were happening.

Didn't Work for Me, But Not Bad submitted by Meginator on August 1, 2022, 3:23pm Given that this book is built around a fairy tale from Hans Christen Andersen, its main distinguishing feature lies in its illustrations, and I personally didn’t care for the design style. The pictures are lively and full of color, popping off of the page with a mix of abstraction and realism that felt too chaotic and inconsistent for me but might enchant others. The story is simply told with a layered moral that is surprisingly complex for this type of tale and might make for interesting discussion. This wasn’t a favorite of mine by any means, but I can see why it might work for readers who aren’t as put off by the artwork as I was.
