"Calla Fletcher was two when her mother took her and fled the Alaskan wild, unable to handle the isolation of the extreme, rural lifestyle, leaving behind Calla's father, Wren Fletcher, in the process. Calla never looked back, and at twenty-six, a busy life in Toronto is all she knows. But when her father reaches out to inform her that his days are numbered, Calla knows that it's time to make the long trip back to the remote frontier town where she was born. She braves the roaming wildlife, the odd daylight hours, the exorbitant prices, and even the occasional--dear God--outhouse, all for the chance to connect with her father: a man who, despite his many faults, she can't help but care for. While she struggles to adjust to this new subarctic environment, Jonah--the quiet, brooding, and proud Alaskan pilot who keeps her father's charter plane company operational--can't imagine calling anywhere else home. And he's clearly waiting with one hand on the throttle to fly this city girl back to where she belongs, convinced that she's too pampered to handle the wild." -- (Source of summary not specified)

Heartwarming submitted by pamhockey25 on July 18, 2022, 4:26pm Calla doesn't know her father because her mother couldn't live an Alaska and they moved away when she wasn't even two. Their entire relationship has been over the phone. She learns that her father doesn't have long to live and goes to get to know him in Alaska. This is the first in a series.

Probably her best work submitted by clk.9123 on August 21, 2022, 5:17pm I actually loved this, and a lot of it had to do with the Alaska setting. Some of her books can be real misses, but this was a true hit. I found that the protagonist started out as super annoying but we saw a lot of growth from her and I loved that because so often romance novel POVs/characters don’t show a lot of change. This is one of my favorite romance books I’ve read, and most of that is attributed to the substance of the book and the familial and relationship issues we find within, not necessarily just because it has romance.
