COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Career success and romance for Emily submitted by tuttlium on July 3, 2023, 8:33am The Emily series has some similarities to the Anne series -- orphaned girl sent to live on a farm with older folks, some of whom are actively hostile toward her -- but is overall much darker and less comic than Anne. This series is said to be more autobiographical; LM Montgomery had a very challenging childhood. The Emily books think more about art and its place in the world, and the ambitions of people who make it. This is the book where she writes the novel that becomes a smash success, and also finds romance.
